Red Wine by Casa Castillo from Barossa Valley, Australia. Jose Maria Vicente is the third generation owner and operator of Casa Castillo, a farm that began as a rosemary plantation, but one that has evolved into the preeminent estate in the DO of Jumilla. While the smell of rosemary still lingers in the air, the pale, rocky soils surrounding his house and cellar are now planted with vines. When Jose Maria's grandfather purchased Casa Castillo in 1941 there was already a winery, cellar and some scattered vineyards on the property dating to the 1870s, established by French refugees fleeing the plight of phylloxera in their native land. In 1985 Jose and his father began to replant the vineyards and expand them with the goal of making wine on the property. In 1991 they bottled their first commercial vintage.

Red Wine by Jaffurs from Central Coast, California. The 2012 Santa Barbara County Syrah combines fruit from five of the Syrah vineyards we work with. After blending trials, Petite Sirah, Mourvedre, Grenache and a small amount of Viognier were added for structure, aromatics and complexity. More than a sum of its parts, it is dark and rich. Exhibiting cherry, wild berry and violet aromatics, this wine is full and fruitful in the mouth, with underlying espresso and pepper flavors. Sharing the same farming and winemaking techniques as their vineyard designated wines, this Syrah can be enjoyed upon release or cellared for several years.

Tucked between the southern foothills of Anderson Valley and split in two by the Navarro River, Filligreen Farm is a breathtaking oasis of diversity and vitality. Their biodynamic vineyard has proven itself ideal for Pinot Gris, nurturing a subdued phenolic character and consistently bright, lingering acidity. The fruit was tenderly foot treaded (pigeage) and whole cluster pressed, then cold fermented in a traditional 360 gallon neutral oak oval to dryness. Dynamic and very food friendly, this wine longs for rustic Mediterranean cuisine, artichoke hearts with garlic, savory and a hearty roast lamb shank.

Red Wine by White Hart from Central Coast, California. We often hear that White Hart a mini-Napa Cab because of the wine's balance, richness, and finish. To achieve this, we went to a favorite little spot, certified sustainably farmed, between two rivers - which keeps the vineyard much cooler than much of the appellation. This makes for a smoother, moderate-alcohol Cabernet, more Napa-Sonoma in texture, albeit more Paso Robles in dark cherry flavors. A wine that goes great with food. This wine offers immediate aromas of black cherries, red cherries, blackberries, and autumnal spices. The palate is rich with flavors of dried black cherries, blackberries, licorice, gentle toasted oak, with soft tannins. An excellent accompaniment to rich stews, roasted meats, main dishes with rich cheese sauces.

White Wine by Tikves from None, Various Regions. Founded in 1885, Tikves Winery has witnessed the independence of the Balkans, two world wars and one cold one, yet through it all they have continued to make wines from grapes native to the region: RKaticeli, Kratosija, Vranec and Plavec. With the fall of communism and independence of Macedonia this historic estate was privatized and new investments were made to update the practices in the vineyard and cellar. Sustainable farming has replaced industrial farming, yields have been lowered and indigenous varieties have been preserved. With the assistance of Philippe Cambie they have modernized their cellar practices by utilizing temperature controlled stainless steel for fermentations with concrete and French oak barrels for aging.

White Wine by Savage from South Africa. Grapes are meticulously sourced from a number of altitude and maritime vineyards around the Western Cape farmed by passionate South Africans. The small hand selected parcels of fruit receive much love and attention through the growing season with eachvineyard's unique terroir contributing in its own special way to the blend. In the cellar, minimal intervention along with new and old large format French Oak is combined to ensure that the essence of South African terroir is captured in the wines. The maiden releaseis fermented and aged in 100% French oak (500 and 600 litre barrels) for 10 months, 25% new, with the remainder 2nd and 3rd fill. Blend: 56% Sauvignon Blanc, 44% Semillon.

Margaret River may only produce 5% of Australian wine, yet the region's wines are so good they reap the lion's share of media attention. Lapped by the ocean on three sides, Margaret River enjoys a maritime climate, not dissimilar to Bordeaux, and predictably has a name for elegant, long-lived Cabernet Sauvignons like this. Founded on the site of an old dairy farm, Rosabrook Wines was one of the first wine producing estates in Margaret River, transforming what was once scrubby pasture into some of the region's finest vineyards. Winemaker is Brian Fletcher, a veteran of the industry and a household name in the region. His 2012 SVE Cabernet is opening up beautifully, yet will continue to mature. Red Wine by Noiro from Central Coast, California. Santa Lucia Highlands is notable for its cooling fog and the afternoon breezes that sweep from Monterey Bay across the vineyards. Soil is Arroyo Seco Sandy Loam. This wine is produced from some of the most renowned vineyards in the appellation, including Rosella's Vineyard, which is owned and farmed by Gary and Rosella Franscioni. The growing season here is one of the longest in California, allowing for full flavor development on the vine. In the winery, whole cluster Pinot Noir was carefully pressed upon arrival at the winery. Fermentation initiated spontaneously in a combination of oak and stainless steel fermenters, followed by gravity racking to new and neutral French oak barrels for 10 months of aging, with elevage occurring in a gentle manner. The 2014 Noiro Pinot Noir possesses a brilliant dark ruby red color and very exotic aromas of damson plum, potpourri, melon, orange peel, and mulling spices. A burst of ripe cherry fruit flavors moves smoothly to secondary flavors of mandarin orange, framed by a complex oak spice note. Decidedly medium-bodied, with a lush mouthfeel, dusty tannins, and fresh acidity. The many layers of this rich wine emerge independently, then refocus, leading to a lingering, succulent finish.

This remarkable story tells of a boy born to dairy farming parents in Central Queensland, Australia at the outbreak of WWII, who left school at 16 and rose to lead the retail operations at Australia's leading bank, Westpac and then retired back to his bush roots. It paints a picture of a very different era of Australia. It details how the family dealt with and drew lessons from a series of deep tragedies. John returned to the bush in his later years using his managerial skills for agriculture and social service. In 1987, he acquired a small cattle farm at Yarramalong near Sydney and on retirement established a 100 acres vineyard at Mudgee, NSW that was soon producing award winning wine grapes. John himself was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia for his voluntary work with various not-for-profit organisations including as Chair of the Royal Blind Society - later to become Vision Australia. This is a journey of family and service in an Australia evolving from rural sufficiency into a globalised world. It is an insight into country life that is unrecognisable to the smart phone generation; also a chronicle of a now vanished time in Australian banking.

White Wine by Hedges Family Estate from Columbia Valley, Washington. Light straw color. Aromas of pear and apple with hints of banana, pineapple, lychee, straw, licorice and custard. The palate is full with fruit sweetness and nicely rounded viscosity balanced by crisp acidity and pear and apple fruits with a caramel note. No buttery oak here. A clean and pure expression of Chardonnay fruit. The House of Independent Producers (HIP) Chardonnay is as close to a Chablis style white as you can find on the west coast. The wine sees no oak, and is a true definition of terroir winemaking, highlighting the beautiful vineyards of Sagemoor Farms, specifically the Dionysus Vineyard. Located in the region of Achaea, a five-minute drive south east from the region s municipal capital of Diacopto in the Peloponnese. The vines are planted in the shadow of the Aroania mountains, home to the Aristarchos telescope, a ski resort and an abundance of butterflies. In an area famous throughout the ages for the excellent quality of its grapes and wine (Pausanias refers to the villages of Aegialia as ideal for the growing of vineyards) the Tetramythos winery has been following melticulously and with enthusiasm the principles of organic farming. For every hectolitre of wine, winemaker Panagiotis Papagiannoupoulos adds one kilo of hand-harvested pine resin and this is all then matured in clay amphorae.

White Wine by Nicolas Joly from Loire, France - regions. The vines have an average age of 25 years and, of course, the vineyards are farmed biodynamically using only indigenous yeasts in the fermentation. Fermented and aged in neutral barrels, this wine evokes the classic beeswax and lychee nose of great Chenin. The mouth feel is more linear than the Vieux Clos with more aging time needed to open up to notes of quince, baked apple and some exotic citrus.

Red Wine by Scholium Project from California. We have sustained the excellent decision that we made in 2012 to base this wine on two Suisun Valley vineyards farmed by Steve Tenbrink. This year, we took a step to make the wine even more interesting: most of the wine is the result of cofermentation of Petite Sirah and Cabernet, not blending. There is also Hudson Syrah cofermented with the Suisun grapes. The final wine is about 50% Petite Sirah, 43% Cabernet, and 7% Syrah. The wine is more burly than the delicate 2011 and a little more muscular but also more layered and complex than the elegantly balanced 2012.
