Margaret River may only produce 5% of Australian wine, yet the region's wines are so good they reap the lion's share of media attention. Lapped by the ocean on three sides, Margaret River enjoys a maritime climate, not dissimilar to Bordeaux, and predictably has a name for elegant, long-lived Cabernet Sauvignons like this. Founded on the site of an old dairy farm, Rosabrook Wines was one of the first wine producing estates in Margaret River, transforming what was once scrubby pasture into some of the region's finest vineyards. Winemaker is Brian Fletcher, a veteran of the industry and a household name in the region. His 2012 SVE Cabernet is opening up beautifully, yet will continue to mature. Triumphant with roast red meats or casseroles.
