An amniotic perforator is a highly specialized medical tool used by professionals to purposefully rupture the amniotic sac. The procedure is commonly referred to as the artificial rupture of membranes (amniotomy). It is an induced controlled rupture of the amniotic sac obstetric procedure that can be performed for many reasons, chief among which is to hasten labor when necessary.
