A variable frequency drive is a very important power electronics component that is employed in the regulation of the speed and torque of an AC motor by modulating the frequency and voltage of the supplied power. A variable frequency drive will greatly save energy consumption and mechanical wear by simply adjusting motor speed to the real needs of the application. VFDs can be found both in pumps, fans and conveyors to enhance better control in processes and increase the life of equipment.
