Mystic topaz is a treated variety of topaz that is processed with CVD (chemical vapor deposition) to improve its colors. In this process, a natural, colorless topaz, which is thoroughly cleaned, is placed in a vacuum chamber where metal vapor (generally vapor of titanium) is introduced.
