Tanzanite jewelry is a mineral variety of zoisite (which is nothing but a type of calcium aluminum hydroxyl sorosilicate). The blue or violet hue of Tanzanite is caused due to small amounts of vanadium present in it. Tanzanite is a rare mineral, and the only site of tanzanite explored until now is the Simanjiro District of the Manyara Region in Tanzania.
