CAPD (Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis) is a type of kidney dialysis where the abdomen lining acts as a filter. A cleansing solution is put into the abdomen, and waste products pass from the blood into this solution. The solution is then drained, removing waste from the body. CAPD (Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis) can be done at home. Patients perform regular exchanges of dialysis fluid themselves, allowing for flexibility and independence in managing their treatment. Watch this video as Dr. R. Balasubramaniyam, Chief Nephrologist, explains the difference between hemodialysis and CAPD as well as its benefits in detail.
