Along with Eddie Jefferson who he cited as a major influence King Pleasure became famous as a master of vocalese where a singer sings words to a famous instrumental solo. He first achieved wide popularity by singing "Moody's Mood For Love" based on a James Moody saxophone solo on "I'm In The Mood For Love". Released in 1952 "Moody's Mood For Love" became a jazz classic. This rare solo album finds King Pleasure in rare form and features the classics "Moody's Mood For Love" and "Parker's Mood."
