Season two of the Emmy(R) Award-nominated "Rough Cut" returns to the workshop of fine furniture maker Tommy MacDonald, a graduate of Boston's famed North Bennet Street School. Once again, Tommy instructs and inspires aspiring woodworkers and master crafters alike, sharing his experience, his secrets, and his enthusiasm, inviting everyone with an interest in woodworking to acquire the basic skills and the tools to go beyond. In "Arts and Crafts-Style Arm Chair", Tommy creates a dramatic piece that serves as the perfect introduction to chair-making, revealing that the legs, arms, and back are all constructed mostly using standard mortise-and-tenon joinery. Then Tommy travels to California where he visits the home of the late, great Samuel Maloof - one of the biggest names in chair-making - and talks with a local curator who specializes in Maloof, before meeting with Maloof's wife, Beverly. Later, master furniture maker Chuck Bender of The Acanthus Workshop in Pennsylvania stops by the shop for a visit. Includes Printed Plans. Subtitles: English SDH (Subtitles for Deaf and Hearing Impaired).
